Carotid Doppler StudiesAtherosclerotic vascular disease, also known as hardening of the arteries, afflicts a large percentage of the population and can greatly increase a patient’s risk for stroke. We use Carotid Doppler Studies to help monitor the health of and blood flow through a patient’s carotid arteries. Like echocardiography, this test employs ultrasound waves to help visualize the condition of the arteries and reveal plaque deposits (build up of cholesterol) that may interfere with normal blood circulation. Early detection of this disease, which is treatable and surgically correctable, can help save a patient’s life.
